What It Can Do
BOTOX Cosmetic is used to revitalize the face and get rid of age-related lines. It can decrease and smooth out frown lines, wrinkles, lines around and between the eyes and eyebrows, and lines around the mouth that show up as you get older. Targeted to facial muscles and nerves, BOTOX decreases muscle movement that leads to unwanted lines. It also can treat excessive perspiration when applied under the arms. Not all wrinkles and lines can be treated with BOTOX, however. Lines that result from sun damage, for instance, won’t be affected. That’s why we’ll work with each patient to make a personal treatment plan to address their skin or aging issues.
What Happens?
We always spend time with our patients before treatment, reviewing medical history and creating an individualized treatment plan for your needs before BOTOX treatment takes place. Treatment consists of a small injection with a very fine needle, requiring no anesthesia and causing little discomfort. Injections of BOTOX are effective at getting rid of crow’s feet and forehead creases, and can even treat deep lines, with several treatments. BOTOX injections are fast and usually require no downtime afterward. Side effects are usually very minimal, but can include headache, slight pain at the injection site, and possible bruising or swelling. Most patients don’t report any of these problems, however. At initial treatment, BOTOX will take about a week to two weeks to show full results, as the lines slowly smooth out.
