The Benefits of Combination Acne Therapies

The Benefits of Combination Acne Treatments

Acne can be an embarrassing and painful problem for people of all ages. At Dermatology and Skin Cancer Center, we help Orlando-area patients with a wide range of acne treatments designed individually for their skin.

What Acne Does

Acne is a skin condition that, yes, often forms in adolescence or young adulthood, but also affects many adults. The factors that lead to acne can include puberty, stress, and hormonal factors. It originates in the sebaceous glands underneath the skin, which produce skin oils and work (when everything’s going right) to keep skin soft and clean. But, when the glands overproduce or the oils combine with skin debris to clog pores, acne can develop.

That’s not even the worst of it, as those who’ve suffered from acne know — those clogged pores can get red, swollen, infected and even start to scar in serious cases, causing unsightly and painful acne. You’re not alone if you struggle with it; acne is the most common skin problem in the U.S.

Why Combination Treatments Work

At our Windermere, Florida office, we treat patients with a combination of options for their acne, depending on the individual. Every person’s skin is different, so every person’s acne treatment is just a little different, too.

We’ll do a personalized consultation to draw up an acne treatment plan for each patient, before selecting skin care products, medications, and treatments that we think have the best shot at clearing up your acne.

Commonly, we use topical creams, oral antibiotics and other skin products that are safe and effective in the treatment of acne, customized to help your specific skin problems. These might range from a mild topical solution to an in-depth regimen for acne that’s been harder to control. Anti-acne facials are also an option, which provides a mix of cleansing, exfoliation, and extractions, along with some soothing massage incorporated.

If you’re dealing with old acne scars or stubborn acne, we can turn to treatments like medically-supervised peels with anti-acne medication, or microneedling to rejuvenate the skin and reduce acne scarring.

Let Us Help

Our end goal is always for you to have clear, smooth and healthy skin. We have years of experience treating acne patients of all ages and love to see clear skin — and new self-confidence!– emerge for each one of our patients through treatment.
