Nourish Your Skin This Summer with Medical-Grade Products

summer-skin-care

Summer can pose challenges for keeping skin healthy, resilient and well-nourished. There’s the beach time, the summer breezes, the outdoors activities, and the desire to soak up the sun — those are the joys of summer, of course!

But, all that sun, wind and heat can be pretty hard on your skin. To combat time and environment-related damage or challenges that make your skin react with dryness, acne, or other skin problems, we carry a full range of medical-quality, dermatologist-approved skin care products that can help.

Choosing A Product

At our Windermere, Florida office Dermatology and Skin Cancer Center, we can help you find the right products, whether they are for anti-aging, sun damage, acne or any skin concern. Some can be medically prescribed, while others are simply scientifically proven and recommended by our qualified dermatology staff.

The brands available in our office are Obagi, Revision Skincare, SkinCeuticals, EltaMD, and Colorescience.

Our Revision and SkinCeuticals skin care lines offer a wide range of products that also work together to create the best possible environment for your skin to thrive this summer. For instance, an oil-control cleanser for mornings keeps skin fresh and clean no matter what the heat index might be, and a corresponding hydrating serum can rejuvenate and re-moisturize your skin each evening.

EltaMD provides our patients a wonderful alternative to over-the-counter sunscreens because this line has Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide, which are the two ingredients dermatologists want you to look for in your sunscreen.

Colorescience also has Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide in their Sunforgettable Brush, which we carry in our office.  The Sunforgettable brush comes in four different shades to match different skin tones and is a mattifying and weightless powder that is also sweat-proof and waterproof for 80 minutes.

Targeted Treatments

If your concern is dull, dry or damaged skin, we can use medically-formulated vitamin C lotion, antioxidant treatments, and exfoliating products to get rid of excess dead skin cells and debris while infusing your skin with the vitamins it needs to look younger, brighter and more clear.

Sensitive skin can be a problem in the summer, as the usual triggers that set off outbreaks, dry patches or other skin conditions are out in full force. Some of our medical-grade products that can keep your skin in balance throughout seasonal changes might include a calming toner, oil-free hydrating serum, or gentle lotion-based cleanser to give sensitive skin the moisture it needs without causing breakouts.

Anti-aging and targeted treatments, such as for under-eye circles, wrinkles around the eyes, and fine lines in the face, also are a good choice in the summer, as sun exposure can often bring out those problems. Treating them on a consistent schedule prevents further environmental damage and keeps skin smooth, bright, and younger-looking despite the season.

Other conditions we can treat with skin care products are carefully chosen by a dermatologist include neck and decolletage firming, correction for pigment and color, repair after chemical or laser treatments, cell renewal, lip repair, adult acne, anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial concerns.
